Try to clear the bios anyway, click bios may say it worked, but changes like this should be done in uefi anyway. (IMO) It should work like that, if it still doesn't we need to figure out why.

when I went to the UEFI Bios it showed a multiplier of 42. It would not let me change it to anything else though in UEFI

Are you using the + / - on the number pad after the item you want to change is highlighted. (I'll check in my bios in a min, if BF3 would ever get done installing)
